VGXI: Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for in-process and release testing of products manufactured at VGXI. Responsibilities also include environmental monitoring of the production areas and raw material quarantine and release. Set-up, organization, and day-to-day operations of a Quality Control Lab are also required.

Responsible for one or more QC assays as follows

  • Environmental Monitoring
  • Raw Material quarantine/ release
  • Water sampling and analysis
  • Raw Material Release testing
  • pH
  • Osmolality
  • Filter Integrity Testing
  • DNA Concentration by A260 and Purity by A260/280
  • Endotoxin
  • Host Cell Protein Quantitation
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • Restriction
  • RNA Quanatitaion
  • Plasmid Forms Analysis
  • Activity
  • Host Cell Genomic DNA Quantitation

Responsible for documentation/administration as follows:

  • Organizing all accumulated data
  • Keeping notebooks up to date, signed, and reviewed
  • Write reports as needed and enter data in software programs
  • Writing Standard Operating Procedures and Protocols

Responsible for QC analysis as follows:

  • PowerPoint, Excel and Word software
  • Spectromax software
  • HPLC software
  • Gel imaging software

Other General Lab Duties as Required:

  • Lab supplies (stocked, ordered and labeled)
  • Cleaning lab (trash removal, sweeping, etc.)
  • Cleaning glassware (washing, autoclaving)
  • Calibration and preventive maintenance of equipment


Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or equivalent from college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
