The Alliance of Cardiovascular Researchers, a non-profit organization, is seeking a Senior Research Scientist who will be conducting research on a contract basis with the Alliance. The focus of the basic research is on biology and differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells into defined lineages by the lineage-specific gene expression. The potential for organ repair is the focus of the translational research of such differentiated cells.

The qualified candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Biology, Biological Sciences or Life Sciences or related field and a keen interest and experience in developmental biology and cell differentiation. The candidate must have completed at least a 5-year post-doctoral research in the relevant area. Experience in cell and molecular studies employing tissue culture techniques, gene transduction involving lentivirus and adeno-associated virus, directed cell differentiation, analysis of gene expression by qPCR, microarrays, immunoblots and flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy for molecular imaging are required. Experience in genetically-engineered animal models is highly desired.

The Senior Research Scientist assists principal investigator with scientific research projects. Functions in a separate and independent manner in the design and initiation of research experiments. Designs, develops or adapts equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained, applies bio-statistical methods to evaluate research data and develops and revises techniques or approaches to work problems.
