Please join hosts BioHouston, Ernst & Young, and Rice Alliance for an interactive discussion of this year’s edition of the Beyond Borders Report. This report demonstrates how much the biotech industry has prospered over the last 30 years, due to a combination of extraordinary scientific progress and innovative business modeling. In 2015, the industry set numerous dealmaking and financial performance records as total market capitalization eclipsed the US$1 trillion threshold for the second year in a row.
Key highlights to include:
R&D spending, a key indicator of the future health of the sector, outpaced the sector’s revenue growth, increasing 16% in 2015 to US$40.1b.
The year’s 89 biotechnology M&A deals represented a 10-year high. The cumulative deal value jumped 120% from the previous year to US$100.2b; close to the combined value of the previous three years.
The potential value of strategic alliances reached US$55.4b in 2015, a new record driven by 17 individual alliances valued at more than US$1b.
